Christmas 2014

IMG_1410

We had sooooo much fun last weekend!!

I mean what’s not to like about building sleigh boats, only to sink them with rocks!?

IMG_1330

IMG_1336

IMG_1342

IMG_1356

Or how about snow ball water balloon fights?

IMG_1386

Or toddler water balloon play . . .

IMG_1389

IMG_1390

Ooooooor, break-the-balloon-over-your-head, play. (Maggie must’ve made that one up)

IMG_1391

There was soooooo much to do!  Like jewelry making, parent/child horseshoes, arts and crafts, hayride-sleigh rides, a scavenger hunt and a Santa-look-alike contest

IMG_1396

IMG_1397

But the best-est part of the weekend . . . the reason everyone came . . .

was for the Christmas party!!!

IMG_1404

IMG_1425

IMG_1434

We brought the treat bags we’d made at Arts and Crafts . . .

IMG_1452

And we filled them up with the prizes we won at the games . . .

IMG_1426

IMG_1421

IMG_1428

while we nibbled on cookies and punch . . .

IMG_1431

IMG_1432

And waited in line to meet the Big Guy and his Wife.   You know who I mean!

IMG_1449

SANTA!  And Mrs. Claus too!

IMG_1444

Even the adults were excited to see them!

IMG_1455

(Psst! Don’t you think this guy is a little too old to be taking a selfie with Santa?)

IMG_1451

And at the end of the party, we all listened very, very carefully for our names . . .

IMG_1473

IMG_1472

Maxwell Moose???   Me?   ME!!!

IMG_1463

IMG_1467

It’s a mini-me!

IMG_1470

IMG_1482

So who had fun???

We had fun!!!

Magic of the Steelgraves 2014

After missing Almodarr and Angelique in 2013, and then missing BJ Hickman over the Fourth of July, Tami was bound and determined, to see the Steelgraves perform their  2014 magic show!

“Nothing better get in my way!” she declared.  “Keep the emergencies away!”

I warned everyone to stay out of her way.

She put an alarm on her phone, told David to remind her, and put it on the calendar.

Overkill?  Maybe.  But it worked!  She even remembered the camera!

Right from the get-go, Almodarr had the crowds attention

IMG_3241

. . . .  as he sneezed doubloons (or at least we think it was doubloons) into a can.

IMG_3242

IMG_3246

IMG_3248

Angelique was there too!

IMG_3259

She had a way of keeping Almodarr in line  . . .

IMG_3301

Together they performed some amazing feats of magic!!

IMG_3309

The crowd hung on their every joke!  And trick!

IMG_3315

IMG_3317

IMG_3303

Everyone wanted to join in!

IMG_3339

IMG_3342

And then, almost at the end, these two pirates went toe, to toe.

IMG_3357

Or . . . shall we say,

sword to sword?

IMG_3359

IMG_3361

IMG_3362

IMG_3365

IMG_3369

IMG_3389

Tami heard from camper after camper, young and young at heart, for two whole days, what a good time they had.

IMG_3421

Thank you Almodarr and Angelique for a fabulous show!

IMG_3446

Pirates, pirates, everywhere!

IMG_1318

Aarrrrrr!  We be a fearsome crew at Poland Spring Campground!!

Just look at me hook-hand!!

IMG_1308

We be soooo tough, we encouraged the little pirates to sink ships!

IMG_1259

IMG_1258

IMG_1257

and taught ’em how to walk planks!

Skinny planks.

IMG_1275

Blind-folded!

And yes . . . even the wee ones!

IMG_1276

The scurvy dogs couldn’t wait to shoot off water balloon bombs!

IMG_1281

IMG_1284

Especially the wee ones . . .

IMG_1289

We had scavenger hunts, made houses for the little people who hide at the lake’s edge (they do!) so they wouldn’t make holes in our boats while we slept.

IMG_1265

and  we made hook hands for the lot of us!

IMG_1290

Then used ’em to play our pirate games!

IMG_1294

Aaaaaand, apparently to eat with.

IMG_1295

BUT AAAArrrrrrrr!  We be the most fearsome crew, Poland Spring has ever seen!

IMG_1316

Trained by me . . . their Captain!  Maxwell Moose!

Look at ’em!  All brave and stuff!

But none be braver than this wee lad!

He took on our talkin’, squawkin’, porch pirate . . .

IMG_1303

stamped his foot at him, and gave a swing of his sword.

At the end of the day, there was treasure for me crew for a job well done.

IMG_1268

Yes. Well, done indeed!

Fourth of July ’14

Rain???  Rain???

IMG_1188

The rain may have fallen on our parade, but we didn’t let it ruin it!

IMG_1200

We decorated our bikes and made Yankee Doodle hats and drums too!

IMG_1191

IMG_1193

We marched and whistled through the pouring rain!

20140704_112218

There was soooooo much to do ~  all weekend long and well into the week.  We didn’t cancel a thing.

We never, ever do.

There were all-American and Colonial kids games in the field . . .

20140705_152635

There was bubble play, seed spitting, family bingo, waterballoon slingshot, Bocci, scavenger hunt and . . .

IMG_1184 20140705_154111

On Sunday night, we gave magician BJ Hickman a great, big, Poland Spring Campground welcome!

BJ Hickman 018

Tami didn’t get any pictures this year though!  She was soooooo tired from the weekend, she fell asleep!  Boy, was she mad she missed it!

Anyway, Wearing red, white and blue, and carrying flags is fun . . .

but now I have to go get my pirate hat and sword!!

Pirate Weekend 004 (922x1280)

‘Cause it’s time fer me to meet the scurvy dogs that’ll be me crew this weekend on the S.S. Poland Spring Campground!

Sci-Fi Weekend

Whoa!

We had the best time at Sci-Fi Weekend!

I wasn’t sure WHAT to expect.  You know Tami!  I half expected her to book Aliens from Mars to come down and run a candy bar bingo!  Or call her Star Wars crush, Hans Solo to stop by and ride the Spacy Hayride!

But Noooooo.  She didn’t plan anything like that.  Maggie and Debbie already had a wicked cool schedule worked out!

We had an alien slime eating contest . . .

IMG_1163

IMG_1162

IMG_1159

And we made space masks with lots of shiny stuff from the Planet Glitter . . .

IMG_1178

IMG_1150

Some of our Poland Spring Campground Space Rangers brought their own light sabers and space watches and ray guns too!

IMG_1172

We played Alien Egg Roll . . .

Okay, okay, we really played Bocci, but calling them alien eggs was more fun than saying they were bocci balls.

IMG_1152

And guess who came to visit!?   Noooooo, not Tami’s second favorite sci-fi crush, Capt Kirk!  (Good guess though!)

It was Princess Leia!

IMG_1169

There were so many cool things to do, I asked Tami if we could have Sci-Fi weekend again next year.

“Of course!” she said.   “Hmmmmm, I wonder if I could book Spock for next year if I emailed him now . . . ”

“Young Spock or old Spock?” I asked.

“What?  There’s only one Spock!” she cried.  “That’s his past and present self. Sheesh.”

Anyway, we had a blast!

IMG_1184

Can’t wait to do it all again next year!!
