Hi! Tami here . . .
A little bird told me I’d better check out the blog, and it’s a good thing I did! That Maxwell! He’s always sneaking on to post something. Even when I ask him to do the posting, he never does it like I tell him to.
I say: Tell your camping friends, the Calendar of Events will be out in the mail soon.
He posts: Hey! Guess what? I kind-of-sort-of- got a sneak peek at the 2010 Calendar of Events and here it is!
I say: Maxx, post a little blurb about our Medieval Weekend. Throw three or four pictures in there too.
He posts: Twenty pictures and two pages about all the fun medieval recreation games we had that weekend.
I say: Don’t post that picture of me in a gas mask!
He posts: That picture of me in a gas mask.
Sigh.
This week, Maxx was really worried because one of his facebook camping friends told him they couldn’t “Think Spring”, no matter how hard they tried.
“Tami, Tami, what do we do?” he asked.
“Did you mention the cracklin’ campfire? Remind her of the sad loon calls?”
“I did, I did!” he said.
“Really, Maxx, she’ll be fine,” I said.
Maxx wrung his hands. “No, no she won’t. She needs some spring NOW!“ And he ran off into the campground to find spring.
I don’t think he’s going to find it, do you? Even the groundhog insisted there’d be six more weeks of winter, no matter how hard Maxx tried to get him to change his mind.
But maybe these pictures that the Snowdon’s sent in will help.
They camped with us last August and caught these beauties

There’s three generations of fisherman there!
So what about all of you? Can you help poor Maxx out? If you have any pictures from your stay at Poland Spring Campground that can help us all start Thinking Spring, e-mail them to us and we’ll post them here!

Hey all!
Tami and Dave spent today packing for the Portland Camping Show. They were trying to predict who’d they’d see there, ’cause being close to home, they usually get to chat with a lot of campers they know. But they’re always excited to meet new campers too; to tell them all about our campground and the surrounding area.
And of course me! She said she aaaaaal-ways tells them about me.
Tami spent Tuesday printing out her favorite pictures from 2008, and adding them to the booth’s photo album. Seeing all the fun photos of our recreation program had me missing all my little camping buddies, like this group from Labor Day weekend

And this group from Chinese New Year Weekend

We always have the best-est times! Story time, water balloon games, visits from the science guy, horseshoes, arts and crafts, hayrides, relay games, boat races . . .
Aww . . Is it Spring yet????? I can’t wait anymore!
If you’re having Spring-itis like us, come to the show this weekend! Look for Tami and David in this booth

stop in and say hi!!

Max here with some news!
Ricco Suave, who’s been giving donkey rides on Fiesta Weekend for the last five years, told me this week that his No Baloney Pony owners are retiring! That’s good news for them . . . but sad news for us.
Unfortunately, this means that all the No Baloney Pony events listed on our 2009 Calendar of Events are “put on hold” while Tami and David try to find somebody new. Replacing our Tuesday night pony rides is our first priority

Then we’ll work on getting the horse drawn hayrides replaced

No Baloney Pony will be sadly missed.
Tami and I will keep you all updated!!

Maxwell here!
Guess what??
The 2009 Calendar of Events is on the website!!
Guess what else? C’mon, guess!!
Bryant

Debbie

and Tami

(um . . . Tami’s on the left)
have goofed around . . . spent long, crazy hours cooking up a new . . . theme . . . weekend!
Adventurer Weekend!!

Think Indiana Jones, Tomb Raider and 007! Details are still being researched, but they plan to have a clued treasure search, boat races, a knot tying contest and a bug hunt/race.
Christmas and Halloween Weekends stayed on their usual dates, but take note that Super Hero Weekend was moved to July 31st – August 2nd and Medieval Weekend to August 21st – 23rd.
If you want to see what we do for a particular theme, just click the appropriate tag on the right and it will take you right to the post for that weekend.
Tami and Alex are hard at work getting all the reservations made in 2008, onto the 2009 computer program. They’ll be sending out the deposit request notices early next week.
We started taking reservations January 5th, and the phone began ringing right at 9am! That’s a very good sign we’re in for a very busy summer. So don’t fall asleep on the job

book your favorite weekend early! Or you might end up like this guy

Creating a blog seemed like a great way to kick off 2008! We plan to post news, photos and updates to attract new customers and keep in touch with our regulars.
Alex and I are now working on getting out our Think Spring letter with the Calendar of Events. You should see this in your mail box by the last week in January. If for some reason you don’t, feel free to send a quick e-mail, or call us. We’ll get it right out to you. We have a new theme weekend, but I think that might be a good subject for another post!
Can you believe the snow we’ve been getting? My son can’t remember the last time the piles were so high! Here’s a pic coming in the driveway. It’s getting narrow . . . Dave’s going to have to get the tractor out and push back the piles soon.

And here’s a few from around the entrance. The Game Room never looked so lonely . . .

And the store so empty . . .

It’s a far cry from this, isn’t it?
